What are the opening hours of the WERQ library?

Do I need a WERQ membership or a library card?

No, anyone can borrow from us! As long as you fill out the form with your contact information, we’ll be able to reach you.

 

How do I borrow a book?

You can borrow a book by scanning the QR code on the library poster, go to the ‘borrow a book’ page and fill out the form. Enter the 5-digit number on the spine of the book and it will automatically fill in the book title!

 

How do I return a book?

To return a book, put it in the basket marked ‘returned books’ at the service desk or hand it to the service desk volunteer.

 

Does my borrowed book have a due date?

Books can be borrowed for a maximum of 28 days.

In the event that returning a book within that time is not possible for you, no worries, you can always reach out to the library team via email (library@queertopia.nl) or Instagram (@queertopiafoundation).

 

What if I am unable to come in person to the library?

If you are unable to come to the library in person you can reach out to the library team via email (library@queertopia.nl) or Instagram (@queertopiafoundation) and we will do our best to make it possible for you to access our books.

 

What happens if I forget to return my borrowed book?

We will contact you by email after 28 days to let you know that your book is overdue. If you are unable to return it for whatever reason, you can always reach out to the library team via email (library@queertopia.nl) or Instagram (@queertopiafoundation).

 

What if I accidentally lose or damage a book?

We understand that this happens! The answer depends on the level of damage. If the book is still fit for future use, then we will not ask you to replace it. If the damage is severe, and the book is no longer fit for future use, or if the book is lost, we would appreciate it if you could get a replacement for the library, since we run on a limited budget and through donations. But, if that is not possible for you, you can always reach out to the library team via email (library@queertopia.nl) or Instagram (@queertopiafoundation).

 

What if the WERQ Library doesn’t have the book I was looking for?

You can use the link in our Linktree to recommend books to us and we will do our best (budget permitting) to acquire them!

 

How many books can I borrow?

There is no limit to how many you can borrow, but we ask you to be mindful of other people who want to use the library.

 

Can I reserve a borrowed book?

If a book has been checked out from the library, you can contact the library team via email (library@queertopia.nl) or Instagram (@queertopiafoundation). We can then tell you when we expect it back, and give you a heads-up when it has been returned.

 

Can I donate books to the library?

Yes! We are always happy with donations. You can leave them at the desk, in the basket marked ‘donated books’. We intend to only offer books by queer and trans authors, however all genres are welcome! If you have any doubts about something you’d like to donate, feel free to contact us!

 

Do you have audiobooks?

For the time being we are unable to provide audiobooks, but we are working on this!
